Introduction

FNP breadth includes adult business travel, family trips, and VFR travel to endemic regions—integrate itinerary, season, and behaviors. PNP-PC may test pediatric dosing, school trip timing, and parent counseling for routine + travel vaccines without duplicating full peds schedules. WHNP may embed pregnancy where live vaccines (YF, MMR, varicella) are contraindicated or require deferral—choose destination change or specialist when the stem demands. Look for wrong prophylaxis region, ignored G6PD hints when contraindications appear, drug–drug interactions, late vaccination with imminent travel, and missed rabies pre-exposure when animal exposure risk is high and access to care is poor. For NP certification preparation (United States), questions rarely announce the topic in the first sentence. They hide it inside vitals, labs, and a short story. Your job is to name the clinical problem, justify why it matters now, and select the safest next step for the role you are given—before you let distractors pull you toward busywork or out-of-scope heroics.
