HELLP syndrome:A variant/complication of severe preeclampsia characterized by: - Hemolysis (microangiopathic hemolytic anemia) - ELevated Liver enzymes - LP Low Platelets (thrombocytopenia) Occurs in 0.5–0.9% of pregnancies; 10–20% of severe preeclampsia cases. Maternal mortality: 1–3%; perinatal mortality: 10–60% (from preterm birth and associated complications). Can occur without hypertension or proteinuria in 10–20% of cases.
