Session setup

Question range: 90–145 items (adaptive length within this band)
Time estimate: 4 h
Time limit: 240 minutes (enforced in-app when timed mode is on)
Experience: Full-length adaptive session: timer enforced, no return to prior items after submit.
Navigation: No backtracking after you submit an answer (exam-style).
Scoring: Results compare your estimated ability to a pathway passing-standard band (not a government or board certificate).

How CAT works

Each response updates the practice ability estimate used for the next item difficulty.
Difficulty tracks performance so the session spends precision where you need it.
Stopping uses pathway min/max plus NurseNest confidence rules — not a published board CAT function.

After the session

In the app you get a report-style breakdown: estimate band, category performance, strengths, focus areas, and links back into lessons, flashcards, and the question bank for weak topics.
